Deploying Printers with Group Policy

You can automatically deploy printers to users or computers using Group Policy. This technique of installing a printer is most practical in a situation where the same printers are used by most of the computers or users, such as a classroom or branch office.

Note

To deploy printer connections using Group Policy, your environment must meet the requirement that the AD DS schema must use the Windows Server 2003 R2 or later schema version.

Client computers running Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003 must use the PushPrinterConnections.exe tool in either a start-up script (for per-computer connections) or in a logon script (for per-user connections). See the section Adding PushPrinterConnections Using Group ...
