Understanding Windows PowerShell

PowerShell is a completely new language, written from the ground up to manage and administer Microsoft Windows. It has inherited many things from its predecessors while introducing a whole new way of doing things in an interactive shell and language. The architects of Windows PowerShell had deep roots in UNIX and the shells and languages that are a part of everyday life to the UNIX administrator, but they knew that simply reworking the Korn Shell for Microsoft Windows wasn’t going to be enough to really change how administrators, and developers, work with Windows.
