Installing AD DS Using the Active Directory Domain Services Installation Wizard

The easiest way to promote a server to be a domain controller in Windows Server 2008 is to run the Active Directory Domain Services Installation Wizard. However, the AD DS server role must be installed on the computer before the Active Directory Domain Services Installation Wizard will run. To install the AD DS server role, either add the role in Server Manager or start the Active Directory Domain Services Installation Wizard by running dcpromo.exe.
