Summary

DHCP and DNS are essential on any modern network, and Windows Server 2008 includes both a DHCP Server Role and a DNS Server Role. The biggest change in these two servers is full, native support for IPv6. WINS continues to be available as an installable feature on Windows Server 2008, but is finally no longer essential on many networks.

In the next chapter we move from essential networking to essential storage as we cover implementing and configuring disk management for Windows Server 2008.
