New Failover Cluster Features

There are several changes to Failover clusters in Windows Server 2008. The changes include a unique new way Microsoft determines supportability of Failover clusters, new setup processes, operational changes, and infrastructure improvements. The list is quite long, but some of the key new features include:

  • Cluster Validation Tool. The new Validate Tool in Failover clusters performs tests to determine whether your system, storage, and network configuration is suitable for a cluster. This replaces the old concept of vendors assembling, configuring, and testing Failover cluster configurations and publishing the results as a cluster-compliant solution.
