As much as everyone would like to have a paperless office, it appears we’ll all be much grayer (or balder, or both) before that completely comes to pass. Office paper consumption peaked in 1999, and since then the quantities of waste in the office paper-recycling bin have leveled off and in some places they have actually begun to shrink—slightly. However, even if few are printing out their emails before reading them, paper remains at the center of many business operations.
