In the days before computers, workers went to work and then went home. At home, they might be reachable, but anything they needed to do required going back in to work. Then computers and pagers and finally cell phones came along, and workers were expected to be reachable virtually any where and any time. But that electronic leash didn’t come with an equal ability to access the resources to resolve the problem or deal with the issue. All too often, responding to that electronic leash meant going in to work.
