Saving Your Settings as a Theme

A theme in Windows Vista is a scheme of schemes, an über configuration that combines and names the various personalization settings that you have made elsewhere. Themes can incorporate the following:

  • Color and appearance choices

  • Color schemes

  • Settings that you have made in the Advanced Appearance dialog box

  • Screen saver

  • Sound schemes

  • Mouse pointer schemes

Note that these are all settings that pertain to your own profile; that is, they’re specific to your user account. Settings that apply to all users at your computer, such as DPI scaling and screen resolution, are not included in the current theme.
