Managing Media Sharing

Windows Media Sharing is a feature of Windows Vista that lets users share the media files on their computers so that other users on the network can play or view them. This includes music files, video files, images, and playlists that are normally stored in the Music, Pictures, and Video folders within the user’s profile. When Media Sharing is enabled, other users can play or view your files but cannot add, modify, or delete files in these folders. Windows Media Sharing is disabled by default and can be enabled in Network And Sharing Center and in Windows Media Player for private or domain networks.
