Security Challenges of Handoff-Type Features

In 2014, Apple released a new feature called Handoff, with Windows and Google working on similar technology. In order to use Handoff, each device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network and be signed into iCloud with the same Apple ID. Handoff allows users to move seamlessly between devices, continuing right where they left off when they switch devices. So if, for example, a user is interrupted while composing an email on a Mac, that user can switch to another device—say, an iPhone—and continue where they left off. The same would apply to browsing webpages on an iPhone. A user could switch devices, and the browser would continue on the alternative device where they left off.
