2.1 Significance of Channel Sounding

Performance of a wireless communication system is mainly restricted by a wireless channel. In a mobile communication system, the propagation path between the transmitter and receiver is complex, ranging from simple LOS propagation to various complex terrains, such as large buildings and mountains. The received signal has strong randomness in different physical environments, which makes it difficult to directly obtain signal strength of each location in theory and to analyze channel characteristics.
