Linda Briceño, the first woman to win a Latin Grammy for Producer of the Year offers a metaphor. “To me, the artist is like a professional athlete who is trying to run a marathon … the sound engineers are like doctors who are basically helping they artist sound the way they want to sound. The producer is like the trainer or coach, because they coach the athlete and give them the right mentorship to get them to the action” (Briceño).
