The Family Has Changed

The family unit has suffered since World War II, perhaps because so many men and women left the home to go off to war or to work in factories related to the war effort. They realized after the war that they could have more material things if they continued to work outside the home.

This has increased more and more right up the present day. The result? More and more latchkey children, kids whose parents are both away too much.

I am inclined to feel that our society as a whole has become so infatuated with material things that we have gotten away from the fundamental values and ideals. We seek happiness in the wrong places and in the wrong form.

This is not to say people weren’t interested in material things before World ...
