Using Command-Line Switches
Word allows certain arguments it calls “switches” to be
passed to it when loading. By passing switches to Word you
can alter its behavior. These can be passed by going to the
Microsoft Windows Start menu, clicking Run, and typing
winword followed by the various switches you would like to
pass. The following table lists the command-line switches that
apply to Word.
Switch Description
/a This switch prevents add-ins and global templates (including the
Normal template) from being loaded.
/laddinpath This switch loads a specific Word add-in.
/m This switch prevents any AutoExec (automatically executing)
macros from running.
/m macroname ...
