Customization is your tool, and it’s available in just about every computer program and mobile app. You can change the way things look, alter program colors, add goobers, and make other fun modifications. Many people shy away from such customization, but again it’s your tool. If you can fine-tune Word to make your workflow more productive, go for it. This chapter offers many suggestions to give you a more custom Word.
A Better Status Bar
Lurking at the bottom of the Word window is an extremely useful gizmo, the status bar. Chapter 1 introduces the status bar but only hints at its potential. Now it's time to reveal all: Right-clicking the status bar produces the helpful Customize Status Bar menu, shown in Figure 29-1.
