Upgrading WordPress from older installations
If you have an older version of WordPress installed, instead of making an entirely new installation, you can upgrade it. Before upgrading, make sure you perform these actions:
- Back up your database: You must back up your WordPress database. If anything goes wrong while upgrading, you can lose all of your web site content. Verify that your database backup file is not corrupted. (If your Internet connection breaks during the download, you may have a corrupted file.)
- Back up your files: You must back up all your WordPress files in the
wordpress folder, even including the
