The importance of backing up

You never know when there could be a glitch in your server or a lightning strike, so it's a good idea to make regular backups of your site. There are a couple of approaches, which I will outline in the following sections.

Easy, quick, frequent content backups

The most important part of your site, and also the part that you will never be able to re-create is the content contained in the database. You should back up your database frequently. Exactly how often, will depend on the number of times you change your content.

If you're running a blog, do a backup whenever you've posted 2 or 3 new posts. If you're running a non-blog website, backup every time you make significant changes to your content or add new pages.
