Resources for Text Mining

A.1 Introduction

Text and data mining are, as has been shown throughout this book, wide-ranging areas of practice. There is, therefore, no single short list of software or data resources. It is not possible to provide a comprehensive overview of all libraries and tools available for text and data mining, because this is an extensive area that would require a book of its own.

Miner et al. (2012) identify seven types of text mining, including:

1. Search and information retrieval. Storage retrieval of text documents including search engines and keyword search.

2. Document clustering. Grouping and categorising terms, snippets, paragraphs or documents using clustering methods.
