Abstract

A karate instructor will teach his or her students many of the physical skills needed to be proficient at their sport, including the legal issues related to self-defense. Students must understand the appropriate levels of force and only use the reasonable amount necessary to protect themselves.

Organizations also need to understand their legal standing, especially in terms of premise liability. Failure to take the appropriate steps can result in frivolous or expensive lawsuits as well as negative publicity.
