Chapter 2. Compose

It’s time to compose yourself! Err, your draft, that is.

The work you’ll do in this phase is what most people refer to when they talk about writing—never mind all that pesky planning and editing work, right?

I told you earlier that writing isn’t magic, but that doesn’t mean we can’t use a few tricks to make it easier. Those tricks revolve around two objectives: to write quickly and to write everything.

I want you to write quickly, for two reasons:
