CSS became a standard in 1996. In 1998, the second version of the CSS specifications, called as CSS2,
became a recommendation. Work is in progress for the third version of CSS, called as CSS3. CSS3 is
supposed to be dramatically different from its predecessors and would make life even simpler for the HTML
designers and developers.
