Finding YES in the Land of NO doesn’t mean that every rejection can be changed. Sometimes NO is the right answer. Sometimes NO is final.
How do you know when to accept NO and move on, with grace and good humor?
We wish there were a simple rule for knowing when it’s best to accept NO. Sometimes it’s a gut feeling — you just sense that the NO is not open to negotiation or compromise. Other times, you do a mental calculus, weighing pros and cons, and you see that YES clearly is not going to happen. And sometimes it’s a fatigue factor — you don’t have the energy to try to get beyond NO.
