Interfacing Direct Guitar and Bass

Ten years ago it would have been hard to imagine that you could record heavy-metal guitar by plugging a guitar into a computer, but time and technology have changed things dramatically. It used to be that the only type of guitar recorded direct was a “clean-sounding” electric guitar, but these days there are programs that can make a direct guitar sound as if it were played through a Marshall stack, and it’s pretty darn convincing. The bottom line is, if you can’t afford a great-sounding guitar amp or you can’t record at high volume, you can record direct to Cubase with a guitar or bass and it will sound good.
