The Mute Tool

The Mute tool’s button shows the letter X. It works similarly to the Erase tool, but instead of getting rid of unwanted objects, it silences them. Once you’ve muted a note/part, you can also unmute it when you want to hear it again. After selecting the Mute tool, you will notice that the pointer changes into the letter X. To mute an object, click on it. It will become shaded, and you will no longer be able to hear the object until you unmute it by clicking on it again.

You can also use the Mute tool to mute and unmute multiple objects by clicking and dragging to select the necessary objects, as you did with the OST. Even though this is a very useful tool, I will not use it in the editing techniques I will show you later in this ...
