Body mass index
Your body mass index (BMI) is a good indicator of how healthy your weight is. A healthy BMI is between 20 and 24.9 if you’re a man, and 19 and 24.9 if you’re a woman. To work out your BMI weigh yourself in kilograms and measure yourself in metres. Divide your weight in kilograms by your height in metres and then divide this figure by your height in metres again. So for example say you weigh 60kg and your height is 1.6m: 60 ÷ 1.6 = 37.5; 37.5 ÷ 1.6 = 23.44. This is your BMI. If yours is over 25 then you are overweight and need to take steps to reduce your weight.
