Sociologists will invariably look back at the early months of 2020 as particularly instructive. Near the top of the list of lessons learned is that video meetings fill essential professional and social needs. At a minimum, they allow untold numbers of people to quickly, easily, and reliably talk to individuals and groups no matter where they are. Make no mistake: This type of synchronous communication is often invaluable, especially when you consider the alternative. Imagine trying to brainstorm an idea or interview a job applicant via email. What’s more, in many cases, a quick conversation obviates sending a bevy of perplexing emails.
