Facebook’s announcement of the Libra blockchain project has created significant interest from both a media perspective and also from Facebook’s current user base. There is also significant confusion about what Libra is and about Libra’s components, such as the wallet Collabra. The key value underlying Facebook's Libra project is that the transfer of money from person to person is similar to the ease of transfer of information. This session will cover both the potential business aspects of Libra and the currently defined technical aspects of Libra. Discussion will also focus on cryptocurrency basics as compared to the Libra. The Libra wallet and current transaction options will be covered as well. Other concerns, such as privacy and security are also discussed. A demo of the Libra testnet as well as other resources that enable rapid learning of this new and exciting cryptocurrency are also included.

Based in Jacksonville, FL, Joe is the owner of a new upstart learning blog, TechCommanders. He’s also a widely published course author and instructor for outlets such as O’Reilly, LinkedIn Learning, QuickStart, INE, and Udemy and has been a contract technical trainer for HPE (3PAR), Hitachi Data Systems, Training Associates, ITpreneurs, and Global Knowledge.
