Prerequisites

Course Set-up

If you plan to follow along during the hands-on portion of the course, ensure you have the following configuration:

  • Download sample data set, available here: https://github.com/brandibeals/Tableau-Jumpstart
  • Download sample data set, available here
  • Tableau Desktop (version 2020 or greater) installed and licensed
  • Tableau Server (version 2020 or greater) or Tableau Online with publishing capabilities (talk with your administrator if you don’t know)
  • Alternatively, you can use Tableau Public (sign up for an account, then download and install the software), but note that you will not be able to complete some of the exercises
  • If you are unable to complete the above, you are still welcome to attend, watch, and ask questions.

Your Instructor

  • Brandi Beals

    Brandi Beals is a Tableau Ambassador, certified both in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server. She has been using Tableau for over 10 years in a variety of enterprise capacities. As the manager of the data analytics team at a global investment management firm she determines the direction and strategy of business intelligence and data science capabilities as well as the tools used to support those capabilities. In doing so, she has helped to build a culture that uses data to drive decision making. She is focused on developing a scalable data strategy, building a data literacy program, delivering an enterprise analytics platform, and growing a community interested in data science and analytics. Skilled in Tableau, Alteryx, and Python, she has a strong technical track record supported by a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Management and Studio Art from Beloit College. She recently completed her Masters of Science in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University. In addition to co-leading the Milwaukee Tableau User Group and Wisconsin Tableau User Group, Brandi runs the Data Book Club.
