Hands-on Arista Networking Foundational Routing Topics

Web Ops & Performance

Learning Arista networking through lab exercises

Chris Kane
Mitch Vaughn

This course is intended to provide network routing protocol overviews and lab exercises for all of the primary technologies that network engineers need to be familiar with in today’s IP networking landscape. While it is true that technology is changing fast, with feature velocity at a rate seemingly previously unmatched at any other time, there remains a core set of protocols that all network engineers should be intimately familiar with.

Arista software and hardware emphasize industry standards. Through this course, you’ll gain deep familiarity with these industry standard protocols, as executed on Arista software and hardware. Mastery of these core concepts allows for the follow on advancements into areas such as automation and programmability with other tools such as Arista’s CloudVision or industry and technology agnostic tools such as RedHat’s Ansible.

What you'll learn-and how you can apply it

By the end of this live, hands-on, online course, you’ll understand:

  • How to configure and operate Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)
  • How to configure and operate Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)

And you’ll be able to:

  • Operate a data network using today’s most prevalent protocols.
  • Apply some basic principles upfront that will make for an easier journey into automation

This training course is for you because...

  • You’re a network engineer operating a network or a programmer tasked with starting to integrate network provisioning into automated deployment tasks with either a product from Arista, CloudVision Portal, or more industry agnostic tools such as Ansible.
  • You work with various routing and switching technologies.
  • You want to become proficient in the most often used core network routing concepts.

  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP, network routing and network switching
