O'Reilly's Palm Programming Contest Announced

Santa Clara, CA -- O'Reilly & Associates, the publishers of David Pogue's best-selling PalmPilot: The Ultimate Guide (O'Reilly, $29.95) and the upcoming Palm Programming: The Developer's Guide by Neil Rhodes and Julie McKeehan (O'Reilly, Dec 1998, $32.95), announced a Palm Programming Contest at the Second Annual Palm Computingb Platform Worldwide Palm Developer Conference in Santa Clara this week.

"There is some exciting and innovative work being done in PalmPilot programming" said Tim O'Reilly, president of O'Reilly & Associates, "We were looking for a way to reward this spirit of innovation."

PalmPilot developers may submit programs to http://palmpilot.oreilly.com/contest/. One grand, one first place, and one second prize will be awarded. In addition to those prizes, one "Pogue Prize" will be awarded for the best application that either answers David Pogue's "10 Killer Apps that Don't Exist but Should." (to be revealed in Pogue's speech Friday at the Developer's Conference, and later to be posted to: http://palmpilot.oreilly.com/) or "is something equally cool". David Pogue will be the sole judge of the "Pogue Prize".

The deadline for entry is February 16, 1999. Winners, and a description of their program (as well as downloading information) will be posted on http://palmpilot.oreilly.com/ after February 16, 1998.
