Jon Powell works on the Data Science and Services Team in the platform automation group at Datapipe, which in November 2017 was acquired by leading IT-as-a-service provider Rackspace. His career in software engineering began at Hewlett-Packard developing real-time firmware for spectrum analyzers. He later held several roles architecting and developing Java/Scala server-side software in disparate domains such as fraud detection, medical devices, fitness, insurance, and laser control. His current interests center around IaaS/PaaS cloud solutions for managing data pipelines as well as analytic model development and visualizations that bring data to life. He is excited about using data to provide great business ROI.
