As a staff writer, Daniel authored the 2nd Edition of Unix in a Nutshell, doubling its contents and paving the way for it to become one of O'Reilly Media's best-selling Unix titles. He revised Learning the vi Editor, co-wrote X Window System in a Nutshell, and had an editorial hand in several other books in the X Window series.
