People’s happiness, productivity, and self-esteem at work are greatly influenced by their relationships at work. Most of our workplace relationships, however, are haphazard. The people we surround ourselves with are those who just happen to be on our teams or in our departments; the way we interact with each other is based on existing cultural norms or assumptions; and there is very little ongoing analysis of our relationships as they progress or corrective action if they go astray.
