Background: Clark Nuber has taken an innovative approach to the audit confirmation process. As opposed to the traditional model of charging the audit team with responsibility for performing their own audit confirmations, the firm has implemented a centralized confirmation process. One individual, with a backup, is responsible for all confirmations and uses the Confirmation.com software. This is a classic example of the importance of “process” to leverage the power of the software tools. The auditors choose the accounts to confirm, and then administrative staff handles the process from there.
