David Albertson founded Albertson Design in 1995. There he leads a diverse
range of projects from new magazine launches to large-scale identity and brand
communications efforts. Albertson Design developed the launch of Make and Craft
magazines as well as created the identity for the Aspen Art Museum and an annual
report for HP.
JAMES BENNET, WWW.THEATLANTIC. COM
Before joining the Atlantic staff, James Bennet was the Jerusalem bureau chief for
the New York Times. During his three years in Israel, his coverage of the Middle East
conflict was widely acclaimed for its balance and sensitivity. Bennet, a graduate of
Yale University, began his journalism career at the Washington Monthly. Prior to his
work in Jerusalem, he served as the Times’ White House correspondent.

Victor Burton is director of Victor Burton Design Gráfico Ltda, in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil, which principally is involved in editorial and environmental design. He began
his career working for the Franco Maria Ricci publishing house in Milan, Italy, where
he created his first book covers. He has completed more than 2,500 book covers and
180 luxury book projects. He was twice awarded by the Bienal de Design Gráfico and
won the National Book Chamber of Brazil Prize for best book cover eight times.
CASEY CAPLOWE, WWW.GOODMAGAZINE. COM
Casey Caplowe is the creative director and cofounder of GOOD, a magazine about
the people, ideas, and institutions driving change in the world. GOOD was named
one of the hottest magazine launches of 2006 by Media Industry Newsletter and Mr.
Magazine. GOOD is expanding its coverage of the Web, video, live events, and feature
and documentary films. Caplowe was instrumental in developing the editorial vision as
well as the look and feel of the GOOD brand, and he helped create the Choose GOOD
Campaign, which donates every $20 (US) subscription fee to a nonprofit organization
of the subscriber’s choice.
ROBERTO DE VICQ DE CUMPTICH, WWW.DEVICQ.COM
Roberto de Vicq de Cumptich is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He received his MFA
from the Pratt Institute and, after ten years in branding, Web, and magazine design,
he began working primarily with publishing houses in New York, first as creative
director for Random House and then HarperCollins. He now has his own design
studio where he develops an array of projects, from branding to typeface design. He
has received numerous design awards, and his book, Bembo’s Zoo, written for his
daughter, was a finalist for the Newbery Award. He lectures and speaks frequently on
design topics.
