Futuretech: the scanning machine
In the 1930s, the future was going to be made of bakelite. By the 1960s it was going to be white. By the 1970s, it was looking decidedly silver.
Each generation creates its own vision of futuristic technology, based – naturally – on the technology of the time, interpolated forwards by years or centuries.
Our vision of the future is one that’s seen in video games, science fiction movies and comics today. It’s a rugged, grungy, tactile future where weaponry is far removed from the ice black, slick iPhone interface we currently use.
