This chapter covers sound and music for your 2D maze game. You’ll use several different audio creation techniques, starting with speech, some sound effects for the actions in DotGame, and you’ll use Scott Joplin’s Peacherine Rag as background music.
Recording Speech
These days it’s really easy to add speech to a video game. Just record someone speaking, and put it into the game. It wasn’t always that easy.
In 1980, the arcade game Berzerk by Stern was one of the first games to use speech synthesis.
