Private Addressing and NAT

To cope with the depletion of IPv4 addresses, several short-term solutions were developed. One short-term solution is to use private addresses and network address translation (NAT). Although not explicitly called out in the exam objectives, NAT is why networks can use a private IP addressing scheme and still be able to communicate with other networks, some of which might be using the exact same addressing.
