In Figure15.43, the Penumbra is set to 10 and the Dropo at 94. We add a dropo set-
ting here in order to point out that the rate at which the light degrades as it moves through
space also has a powerful impact on the shadows cast by a light. (See p. CI-12, Figure 15.43
of the Color Insert for the appearance of the doors with various penumbra settings.)
ADJUSTING THE RESOLUTION ATTRIBUTE OF
A DIRECTIONAL LIGHT IN MAYA
We will look at adjusting the resolution of a shadow. First, we choose:
Hypershade window → Create → Lights → Directional light (see Figure15.44)
Directional lights are meant to model sunlight, that is, light that is moving in parallel rays
across the scene.
