Creating and Animating Realistic, Natural-Looking Water

Water is such a complex material with specific features such as reflection and refraction. In this chapter, we will take a look at creating an animated and realistic river from scratch.

We will learn how to use Glass BSDF and Transparency BSDF to achieve the kind of reflection and refraction that real water has. We will learn how to create and switch between shaders, and change the colors of shaders to achieve a nice-looking water surface.

Then, we will add a wave effect to the surface of the water using Noise Texture. Finally, we will learn how to animate the waves on the surface by inserting keyframes into the Timeline editor.
