In previous chapters we found many ways to create 3D elements in After Effects, so why would we need to learn about the complex ways of dedicated 3D software? In fact, when it comes to adding the 3D skillset to your 2D skillset the thing that most people really need is the knowledge of creating 3D models. Keyframe animation is largely the same no matter which software package you use. After Effects doesn’t allow you the full range of ability to create 3D models that a dedicated 3D software package can. So in this chapter we will look at the process of creating 3D models in 3D software.
