Troubleshooting and Post-processing
People tend to come into 3D printing either from the software/modeling side or from the electronics hacking or shop class world. Debugging a system with a lot of software involved is a little different from figuring out what is wrong with something that is purely mechanical (or even electronic). And introducing real parts that are being manufactured for the first time creates issues that do not come up in purely virtual software development.
