Mimicking Real World Objects
In one of the first public presentations of a WPF application, the British Library digitized several of their treasures to offer them in a XAML Browser Application called "Turning the Pages" (http://www.bl.uk/onlinegallery/ttp/ttpbooks.html). It's quite enjoyable, and the 3D effect adds greatly to the experience.
I decided to try to imitate this program, not with a digitization of a physical book, but with a Word 2007 document file of Christina Rossetti's poem "Goblin Market," written in 1859 and published in 1862. Within my WPF program I wanted easy access to this document with a minimum of extra work, so I saved the document in the new XPS (XML Paper Specification) format that was developed in conjunction with WPF. ...
