Exercise 8.3. Animating with Layers
In this exercise, you’ll animate the arms of a dancing biped. This will let you try out various arm motions using a nondestructive workflow method.
1. | Load the file Dance_Start.max from the CD.
This file contains a biped doing a simple dance about 260 frames long.

2. | Select any part of the biped.

3. | Turn off Footstep mode, if it’s on.
We want to animate the arms for the dance. We’ll start by removing all the existing arm keys.

4. | Open Track View - Dope Sheet, and expand the hierarchy to view all the biped keys.
|
5. | Locate the Bip01 L Clavicle and Bip01 R Clavicle tracks.
