Exercise 8.3. Animating with Layers

In this exercise, you’ll animate the arms of a dancing biped. This will let you try out various arm motions using a nondestructive workflow method.

1.
Load the file Dance_Start.max from the CD. This file contains a biped doing a simple dance about 260 frames long.
2.
Select any part of the biped.
3.
Turn off Footstep mode, if it’s on.

We want to animate the arms for the dance. We’ll start by removing all the existing arm keys.
4.
Open Track View - Dope Sheet, and expand the hierarchy to view all the biped keys.
5.
Locate the Bip01 L Clavicle and Bip01 R Clavicle tracks.
