USING AN APPROPRIATE shutter speed is vital for maintaining sharp focus in every image captured by a handheld camera. It’s impossible to hold a camera perfectly still, so you need to choose a shutter speed that will freeze the motion of your hand when holding the camera. The preferred shutter speed, to eliminate shake with handheld shots, varies based on a number of factors, but 1/60 second is a good place to start.
