Policy control and charging
Abstract
This chapter provides a detailed overview of the Policy and Charging Control functions in the 5G System. There are two separate sets of functionality – non-session management related policy controls and session management related policy controls. The key components and architecture for each of these is explained including the interaction of the PCC functions with the other parts of the 5G Network including how the rules are obtained and executed. In addition, the charging system is presented and the difference between the Offline and Online mechanisms in the 5G system.
