Architecture extensions and vertical industries
Abstract
This chapter illustrates the main extensions created for the 5G System in 3GPP Release-16 project. These extensions cover two main areas—enhancing the 5G architecture and providing support for some new service capabilities/enablers. These capabilities/enablers specifically target use cases for enterprise and industry deployments. This chapter outlines in brief (work in progress) the main advancements including enhancements to the Service-Based Architecture, network automation, enhanced network slicing, support for non-public networks, automotive use cases and integration toward fixed access networks.
