Mathematical Modeling of Hardware Impairments
Abstract
With the evolution of modern digital communication systems, the stress put upon the analog front-end hardware increases. Techniques such as massive MU-MIMO makes use of a very large number of transceivers to perform spatial multiplexing of users, and the bandwidth is simultaneously increasing. This tends to drive up the power consumption as either the analog hardware may need to be dimensioned in an excessive manner to cope with a high percentile of use cases, or advanced digital signal processing methods need to be deployed in order to compensate for the non-ideal behavior of the analog hardware.
