Supporting the Story With a Media Kit or Online Media Room
Most of you, I’m assuming, don’t have gargantuan publicity budgets at your disposal. Hence the common request, “Please send me your media kit,” might provide you cause for alarm. It sounds fancy and intimidating, doesn’t it? A media kit (also called a “press kit”) is nothing more than a packet of materials that you send any member of the media when he or she asks for it, or that you send in advance when you are trying to appear on a major talk show. Its contents reinforce your claim to be worthy of publicity.
