Responsibility is something that a person is accountable for. It is something a person is answerable for doing. It is a duty or function a person is obligated to fulfill.

When speaking, you have the primary responsibility for getting what you are saying understood by the people listening. These responsibilities are numerous and almost endless. Conversely, the people listening are only expected to make a reasonable effort to understand what is being said to them.
